Well, 2021 might not have offered the fresh new start we had all had in mind at the end of 2020, it certainly did bring many fresh beginnings!

Meet baby Wesley! He arrived into his family's waiting arms just hours before the end of 2020. When I heard from his sweet mama the next day we quickly chose a date in the following week to capture his first portraits.

This works well for many reasons:

  1. fresh babies (ideally 7-14 days old!) are extra sleepy, and still so squishy and love to be curled up

  2. sometimes dad is able to be off work for those first couple weeks, which gives us more scheduling opportunities

  3. baby features change so so quickly, and I want you to remember those sweet plump cheeks that fade all too fast!

When I arrived at their house I was greeted by his mama, his big sister, and their dog, Zuma (whom they assure me was named before Paw Patrol came out), dad and baby Wesley were waiting in the living room.

I set up my gear and we started with some family images.

We wanted to capture some of mom, dad, and Wesley, and some of Wesley and his big sister.

While we waited for big sis when we called her for her turn, we heard some kerfuffeling, so dad went to go check. Sis had decided that her nails needed a touch up before her big photo opportunity! So funny! So dad worked the nail polish remover to try and get the bright red off her nails and finger tips, and we got back to shooting! I assured mom and dad that I could reduce the red and clean up the leftovers while editing.

I think between dads efforts and my own, no one would ever know! except that I just told you all!

We also wanted some to show case how small and loved Wesley is by the whole family, so we captured a few hand images as well.

Then we moved on to Wesley's solo portraits. To say he rocked them, would be an understatement! We captured so many lovely images of this sweet boy, I just cant decide what to show you guys! So I will add a little collection below!

I sure love looking back at this session and this sweet family!
